What is Mental Maths Challenge?

Mental Maths Challenge is a natural follow-on from BondBuilder & TableTrainer. Once pupils know their multiplication tables Mental Maths Challenge will motivate them to use various strategies to increase the usefulness of this information. For example the fact that 7 x 8 = 56 can, with a little MMC training, quickly lead to solutions to:
7 x 16, 14 x 8, 14 x 16, 70 x 8, 7 x 80, 7 x 32, 8 x 28, 1/8 of 56, 1/7 of 56, 70% of 80, to mention just a few.

What age-group is Mental Maths Challenge suitable for?

Rather than specifying an age range, Mental Maths Challenge follows on from BondBuilder & TableTrainer. So, if a student has a firm grasp of their multiplication tables, then they are ready for Mental Maths Challenge.

All NumberGym software is designed to be age-neutral so older children and adults feel no embarassment using it. Mental Maths Challenge is therefore suitable for children and adults alike who need to improve their knowledge of number facts.

How does it work?

The approach is similar to BondBuilder & TableTrainer - ie each challenge consists of sets of virtual cards which need to be sorted onto their correct answer disks using the particular mental maths strategy described for that challenge.
There are three Challenge Levels. We can't use the word 'Olympics' but the levels are called Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Each Challenge Level features 10 challenges and each challenge is based on a particular strategy which is described with a worked example when you move the mouse over the "?" button before the timer starts.
